Georgia State Defeats SSU, 10-2

ATLANTA, Ga.- Playing the first game of a season ending seven game road stretch, Savannah State fell to Georgia State 10-2 in a non-conference contest played at the GSU Baseball Complex.

The Tigers (5-30) have dropped16 games in a row.

Savannah State trailed 1-0 after two innings of play but tied the score in the top of the third when Freddie Landers hit a RBI single that scored Mason Calloway, who earlier was hit by a pitch.

The Panthers took a 2-1 lead in the fourth but in the top of the fifth Calloway drew a walk and later scored on an error by the catcher to tie the game at 2-2.

SSU was held to two hits the remainder of the game as Georgia State added five runs in the sixth inning, one in the seventh and two in the eighth to blow the game open.

The Tigers ended the contest with six hits while making two errors and leaving 11 men on base.

Savannah State used seven pitchers in the game and Khalyd Cox was tagged with the loss. Cox lasted just one third of an inning but surrendered four hits and four runs.

Calloway had two hits and scored twice for the Tigers.

The Panthers had 13 hits in the game, made five errors and stranded ten men on base.

Brandon Baker, who struck out three batters in 1.2 innings, earned the win.

Jack Thompson had three hits and scored three runs for GSU (22-22).
