Softball Completes Three Game Series Sweep vs. NCAT with a 6-1 Win Sunday

Box Score SAVANNAH, Ga. – The Savannah State University softball team (11-20, 6-6 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference) completed the three game series sweep with a 6-1 win Sunday against North Carolina A&T State University (7-32, 4-8 MEAC) at Lady Tiger Softball Field on Senior Day.
 
Junior second baseman Allye Sneed went 3-for-3 and scored three times, while senior right fielder Shelby Eccles and senior center fielder Brianna Harris each went 2-for-3 with a run scored, while junior third baseman Cortni Jones hit a three-run home run.  On the mound, senior pitcher Amanda Hallman (7-9) picked up the win pitching a complete game giving up one run on seven hits with eight strikeouts.
 
Savannah State broke a scoreless tie in the bottom of the third inning after Sneed went home after a throw to first base on a groundout to take a 1-0 lead.
 
The Lady Tigers increase their lead to 5-0 after the fifth inning after Jones hit a three-run home run and Harris singled to drive home Sneed, who reached on base with a single to the left fielder.
 
The Aggies got on the board in the top of the sixth inning after an RBI single to right field to cut the lead to 5-1, but the Lady Tigers scored the final run in the bottom half of the inning after an error allowed Sneed to score, who reached on an infield single to third base.
 
The Aggies went 1-2-3 in the top of the seventh inning, including two strikeouts, to end the game and to give the Lady Tigers the series sweep.
 
The Aggies were led by Nathanly Pacheco going 2-for-3, while Raven Gray scored the only run and Zadaisha Waddell recorded the only RBI.  On the mound, Mohagony Headen (4-8) picked up the loss pitching the first 4.1 innings giving up five runs on seven hits.
 
The Lady Tigers close out the regular season next weekend in Orangeburg, S.C., with a three-game series against South Carolina State University with a doubleheader Saturday starting at 1 p.m. and a single game at noon Sunday.
