COLUMBIA, S.C. – Savannah State University men's and women's track and field team competed on day one at the Weems Baskin Invitational Friday at the Sheila & Morris Cregger Track.
 
On the women's track team, freshman Oneillia Fuller finished seventh in the 400-meter dash with a time of 56.78, followed by freshman Carlandra Jones'12^th place finish with a time of 57.68 and freshman Autumn Brown finished 31^st with a time of 12.58 in the 100-meter dash. 
 
On the men's field team, junior LaRon James finished 11^th in the long jump with a distance of 6.95 meters (22-9.75).
 
 On the women's field team, senior Kourtney Sizemore finished ninth in the pole vault with a distance of 2.80 meters (9-2.25), while sophomore Kanani Lodge finished 17^th in the javelin throw with a throw of 30.01 meters (98-5) and junior Faith Shears finished 21^st in the hammer throw with a distance of 41.80 meters (137-2).
 
On the men's track team, sophomore Atakilti Sahlu finished 16^th in the 5,000-meter run with a time of 15:51.85, followed by freshman Ermias Tewolde's 22^nd place finish with a time of 16:07.22, freshman Suhieb Mohamed's 31^st place finish with a time of 16:32.03 and freshman Terrence Sessoms' 35^th place with a time of 16:46.38.
 
Senior Andre Houser-Cross finished 30^th in the 400-meter dash with a time of 50.25, followed by senior Donterious Copeland's 75^th place finish with a time of 53.14 and freshman Carlous Bartee finished 40^th in the 100-meter dash with a time of 11.10.
 
The Weems Baskin Invitational continues with day two Saturday.
