CHARLOTTE, N.C.- The Savannah State men's and women's cross country team ran in their second meet of the season, competing in the Charlotte Invitational which was held at McAlpine Creek Park.

SSU freshman
Michael Smith finished fourth overall in the 8k race, with a time of 25:26.1.
Â
Freshman Randolph Barratt was 26th with a run of 28:58.4 while sophomore
Micah Richards was not far behind in 28th place with a time of 29:09.8.

Rounding out the Savannah State runners were
Corey Jones (30:02.2),
Kenneth Nealy (30:37.4) and
Brandon Davis (33:31.8).

Jones finished 31st overall followed by Nealy who was 33rd and Davis who finished 36th.

As a team, SSU was third with 84 points. Samford won the team competition with 21 points followed by Charlotte who had 41 points. Gardner-Webb was fourth with 100 points.

Senior Asea Mayfield was the top finisher for the SSU women with a time of 27:13.2.Â

Kortney Sizemore had a time of 29:04.6 in the 6k race while
Ashley Goss had a time of 34:43.9,
Alysia Potts had a time of 34:47 while Kacie Wimpye ran the race in 38:154.4.

In the team standings, South Carolina (32) won followed by Samford (62), Davidson (74), Charlotte (81), Florida State (89), Gardner-Webb (190) and SSU (219).
