CHARLESTON, S.C.- The Savannah State men's and women's cross country teams participated in the College of Charleston Invitational held at Trophy Lakes on Johns Island.

The men ran an 8k course while the women ran a 5k course.

SSU was one of 17 teams participating in the event.
Â
Corey Jones finished 56
th to lead the SSU men with a time of 29:56.30 while
Michael Smith finished 59
th with a time of 30:25.00.

Rounding out the Savannah State runners were

Brandon Davis,66
th, (32:13.20); and Randolph Barratt, 68
th, (34:17.10). The SSU men's team placed 7
th overall in the meet.

Asea Mayfiled paced the SSU women in 85
th place with a time of 21:47.20. Kortney Sizemore, who placed 94
th, was the second Savannah State runner to finish and was clocked at 22:41.30.

USC Upstate won the men's Division I section while College of Charleston captured the women's event.
