SAVANNAH, Ga. – Student-Athletes from Savannah State University participated in the “Teens for Literacy” Reading Rally community service event at E. Broad Elementary School last Friday.
 
The event centered on an activity called “aim for reading” which teaches students about reading through basketball shooting. The Savannah State University Cheerleading squad help conduct a pep rally as well for the students. Grades pre-kindergarten through third participated in the event.
 
Including Savannah State Cheerleading, members from Women's basketball, Softball and Volleyball were a part of the event. The rally included games, live music, golf for reading, and hula hoop your reading.
 
This was the first time the SSU Athletic Department as a whole contributed to this community service program. The SSU Cheerleaders have participated in past events with E. Broad Elementary School's 21^st Century Program.
