NORFOLK, Va.- Savannah State senior defensive back
Darren Hunter has received a preseason honor after being voted to the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference defensive second team.
During the 2010 season, Hunter led SSU with 76 tackles. He also had two forced fumbles and one interception.
As a team, SSU was picked to finish 11th and received one first place vote as they enter their first year of play in the conference.
The voting was done by MEAC head football coaches and sports information directors.
South Carolina State was picked to win the conference followed by Bethune-Cookman and Florida A&M.
Delaware State's Justin Wilson was selected as the MEAC Preseason Offensive Player of the Year and Ryan Lewis of Bethune-Cookman was tabbed MEAC Preseason Defensive Player of the Year.
The announcements were made at the annual Football Press Luncheon Banquet at the Norfolk Waterside Marriott Hotel.
