SAVANNAH, Ga.- Two and a half months after being hired as Savannah State's head football coach, Steve Davenport will have his first spring practice when the Tigers open spring drills on March 23 at 3:30 p.m.

Davenport was hired January 7, 2011 and has signed 25 players to grant-in-aids thus far.

Savannah State will have 13 spring practice and the spring game is slated for April 14 at 6:00 p.m. at a yet to be announced location.

Practices on Monday, Wednesday and Friday will begin at 3:30 p.m. while Saturday practices will start at 10:00 a.m.

In addition to spring practice, SSU football players and coaches will be involved with a Habitat for Humanity project on April 16 23.

Coming off a 1-10 record in 2010, the Tigers are set to begin play in the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference this season.

The Davenport era at Savannah State will kick-off on September 3 against Albany State.
