Amara Jones Selected to Bahamian National Team

Savannah, Ga. - Savannah State sophomore Amara Jones was selected to the Bahamian National Junior Team to compete at the 13th (IAAF) International Association of Athletics Federation, World Junior Championships. The competition will be held in Moncton, Canada from July 19-25th.
The (BAAA) Bahamas Association of Athletic Associations named two of the national teams that will travel over the summer to represent the country in track and field competition. Jones will compete on the second team .
Twenty young adults will also accompany Jones on the second team, which is the Central American and Caribbean Junior team.
The teams will be lead by Dianne Woodside as head coach.
Jones, a Freeport, Grand Bahamas, native competed at the NCAA Division I Outdoor Track & Field Championships earlier this year in Eugene, Oregon. She had a time of 54.89 and placed 6th in her squad and 22nd overall.
