Savannah State Athletics

MONTGOMERY, Al.- Savannah State men's golf team opened the fall golf season with a fifth place finish at the Alabama State Fall Classic played at Lagoon Park Golf Course.

SSU shot 305 on the first day of action but dipped to 320 in the second round to finish with a score of 625 (+49).

Tennessee State won the event with a 580 (+4) with Birmingham Southern coming in second with a 581 (+5).

Tripp Walker led SSU by finishing tied for 27th. Walker shot 150 (71+79) and finished +6. Daniel Hannina was tied for 31st with a 151 (74+77) and finished +7. Peter Teifer tied for 49th with 159 (77+82) and finished +15. Ricky Williams finished tied for 58th by shooting 165 (83+82) and was +21 while Craig Jarrell placed 73rd with a 190 (97+93) to finish +46.

Birmingham Southern’s Nick Blakley was overall low medalist with 140 (69+71) and finished -4.
