Savannah State Finishes 7th at PGA Tourney

PORT St. LUCIE, Fla.- After shooting a 298 in the second round, Savannah State shot 315 in the final round and finished in seventh place at the PGA Minority Collegiate Golf Championship at the PGA Golf Club with a score of 907.
SSU was -5 after two rounds but finished +43.
Tennessee State (860) won the event followed by Bethune-Cookman (861) and Texas-Pan American (879) among the 11 teams in the Division I competition.
Riley Baxter shot a 74 for Savannah State in the third round while Corey Brown shot 79. Jamie Montgomery and Tripp Walker both shot 81 and Ricky Williams shot 86.
Overall for the Tigers, Walker led the way with a 223 followed by Brown (224), Baxter (228), Montgomery (239) and Williams (243).
Vonetta Epps finished 13th overall in the Division I women's competition.
Epps shot a 98 in round three and finished with a overall total of 287 in the 17-person field.
