Relay Teams Do Well At Pepsi Florida Relays

GAINESVILLE, Fla.- The Savannah State 1600 sprint medley and 4x100m shuttle hurdle relay teams placed 5th and 6th respectively as the Tigers competed in the 65th Annual Pepsi Florida Relays held at Pressly Stadium on the Beard Track.

The sprint medley team of Joe Ferguson, Eric Plump, Vernon Williams and Tyrone McCoy ran a time of 3:24.69 while the shuttle hurdle team of Marcus Stallworth, Aaron Whitaker, Darrell McElroy and Brandon Norman posted a time of 1:01.15.

Chris Blount (14.19m) tied for 12th in the triple jump.

The 4x400m relay team (Williams, Plump, McCoy and Stallworth) finished 16th in their event with a time of 3:12.88.

In the 100m race, Plump (10.85) was 33rd while Stallworth finished 37th in both the 110m hurdles and 400m hurdles with times of 15.03 and 55.64 respectively.

For the SSU women, Victoria Burch was 24th in the 400m hurdles with a time of 1:03.21, Amara Jones was 29th in the 400m race with a time of 56.72 and the 4x400m relay team of Burch, Jones, Mekela Martin and Amber Hughes was 31st with a run of 3:52.18.
