Relay Teams Win At Osprey Challenge
JACKSONVILLE, Fla.- The Savannah State men's and women's 4x400m relay teams both won their events at the Osprey Challenge hosted by North Florida at Hodges Stadium.

The men's team of Gabriel Davis, Eric Plump, Tyrone McCoy and Vernon Williams had a time of 3:15.80 while the women's team made up of Mekela Martin, Victoria Burch, Amara Jones and Monique Harrison had a time of 3:51.48.

Plump won the men's 200m race with a time of 21.32 and SSU assistant track & field coach Raphel Martin ran unattached and captured the men's long jump with a leap of 7.57m.

Plump was second in the men's 100m race with a time of 10.83, McCoy was second in the men's 800m race with a time of 1:54.82 and Williams was second in the men's 400m race with a time of 48.30.

Third place honors went to the men's 4x400m "B" squad (Marcus Stallworth, Aaron Whitaker, Brandon Norman and Chris Blount) who posted a time of 3:21.88, Amara Jones who ran the women's 400m race in a time of 56.57, Stallworth who had a time of 55.23in the men's 400m hurdles and Shawn Sovnenir who had a leap of 14.00m in the men's triple jump.

For the SSU men, Jamario Parks and Chris Blount were 4th and 5th respectively in the long jump, Blount was 4th in the triple jump, Jonathan Loadholt was 9th in the 100m, Parks was 11th in the 100m, Joe Ferguson was 15th in the 400m, Stallworth, Norman and Whitaker were 4th, 5th and 6th in the 110m hurdles, Whitaker was 4th in the 400m hurdles, Davis was 8th in the 800m and Ruben Isreal-McBee was 15th in the 1500m

For the SSU women, Sharonda Redfield was 6th in the long jump, Harrison and Martin was 8th and 9th in the 400m, Burch and Harrison was 6th and 11th in the 100m hurdles, Burch was 6th in the 400m hurdles and Sadie Sellow was 9th in the 5000m.
