SAVANNAH, Ga.- Savannah State junior guard/forward Jovonni Shuler and freshman forward Rashad Hassan were named to the 2008-09 Division I All-Independent Men's Basketball Honorable Mention Team.

Shuler, a native of Lake Placid, Florida, led the Tigers in made 3-pointers (30) and steals (40). Shuler (6-4, 180) was second on the team in free throw percentage (.906), made free throws (58), rebounding average (3.9), minutes per game (26.9) and defensive rebounds (83). He tied Hassan in points scored
with 242 which was good enough for second on the team. 

Hassan (6-7, 215) led SSU in blocks with 17 and was second in field goal percentage (.580), field goals made (101) and scoring average (8.6 points per game).
